On 9 November 2016 I spoke in Parliament House about Tourette Syndrome. This is the first time I have raised this publicly, or in any job, or beyond close friends and family.
I have Tourettes.Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder. It consists of vocal and motor tics, that is, rapid, repetitive and involuntary muscle movements. That’s why I am proud to launch the Parliamentary Friendship Group of Tourette Syndrome, joined by the President of Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia, Robyn Latimer, and runner up in The Voice Australia, Adam Ladell, who also has Tourettes. With this Group I hope to bring awareness of Tourettes, promote early diagnosis and government interest, and be an example for people with Tourettes.
