Federal Member for Dunkley, Chris Crewther MP, today welcomed the activation of disaster assistance in response to storms and floods that have been affecting Victorian communities.
Mr Crewther said the funding announced today would assist the Frankston City Council in ensuring it has the resources and support needed to recover from the storm’s devastating impacts.
Frankston SES received more than 200 calls throughout last week’s storms, with 35 volunteers responding around the clock – Seaford and Carrum Downs were the worst hit.
As well as funding for local councils, relief payments are also available to eligible individuals affected – particularly by the floods.
Mr Crewther said assistance has been made available under the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), and includes:
