Federal Member for Dunkley, Chris Crewther MP, this week spearheaded a GoFundMe donations page to save the Frankston Dolphins VFL Football Club, to help eliminate the Club’s debt to help it regain its VFL licence for the 2018 season, and is now with the Steering Committee calling for donations.
“Recently, we set up the ‘Save the Frankston Dolphins’ Steering Committee which worked hard to help achieve the positive result of creditors of the Frankston FC voting to keep the Club afloat.”
The Dolphins entered voluntary administration at the end of the 2016 VFL season due to their extensive debts and as a result had their VFL licence cancelled.
“The Frankston FC faces many challenges as they work to renew their Club and put in place the foundations required for the AFL to restore its VFL licence for 2018.
“The Club has a sound plan to become financially viable in a sustainable way, to field a competitive football team, to work with local football leagues, to connect with and support our community and to put strong governance structures in place to ensure that they get their VFL licence back.”
All funds received will be placed in a formal trust fund for the protection of the donations and will be refundable less GoFundMe fees if the Club does not regain its VFL licence.
